Starting to read the book but not finishing, this film really made me want to finish the novel that I never finished. A really well done film for a really sad and intense story. At the end, all I could say was, "That's what you get." to the father. So so heart-wrenching and very heavy duty but not heavy in the sense of gory/graphic imagery but in the idealistic sense that your mind follows when the imagery does not. A really great movie if you want a good realization of what happened during those horrible times in Poland, Germany, and other countries.
